Pedro Varela Vázquez
Degree in Economics (2010; National Award for Academic Excellence) and PhD in Economic Development and Innovation (2016; Extraordinary Award for PhD and International Mention) by the USC. FPU scholarship holder from the Ministry of Education and pre-doctoral scholarship holder from the Xunta de Galicia.
His lines of research focus on business history, innovation policies, as well as models for estimating the economic impact of renewable energies and sectoral development policies.
He is a member of the Group of Studies on Business and Sectoral History. Fishing, Industry and Trade.
He coordinated and participated in public and private research projects, mainly dealing with the promotion of renewable energies (onshore and offshore wind) and the effects of regional, national and European innovation policies.
He has spent time in foreign centres of recognized prestige in his field of study, such as Aalborg University (Denmark).
Since 2019 he has been an Assistant Professor in the History and Economic Institutions Area (Department of Applied Economics) of the USC. Currently, he teaches World Economic History.
